Admin and moderators in Rust

    There are no "standard" permissions, only what plugins provide. If you use Rust's auth levels, you'd have all of what those auth levels provide unless you block some of the commands using a plugin.

    I assume that is what you want? There isn't any customizing what you get with it, you get all or nothing without plugins.

    I have been having issues with some commands, mostly when it comes to usergroup's with my server saying "You are not an admin". I have myself set as the owner and the moderator of the server. Any idea why this message would be popping up? I have reset the server and everything.

    Those are likely coming from plugins. You'd need to set the permissions shown on their Overview page.

    These vague permissions systems "typing" SUCKs! I have been trying to remove friends that are stuck with the title of [Admin Tester] from the front of their names for the past 2 weeks. I have deleted this title from files and it returns I have typed every revoke, remove command from under this very forum and still get NOWHERE! I have asked for help with little in return, the permissions sys, needs to be simplified! I am not willing to sit at my computer wearing Deepends and f***** with this! I have a full/ and part time job and want to have something where I and my friends have a degree of control over the little trolls that are on most servers!

    It would be great if somewhere all the commands were listed.
    Look I need help I had a server the same time last year and never this many problems.
    Please need some help.

    This thread has nothing to do with permissions, this is about admin in Rust.

    All of the commands are and have been listed in the Docs link at the top of the page for quite some time as well.

    If you are editing a data file for a plugin, it cannot be edited while the server is running or at least while the plugin is running, but that also has nothing to do with the permissions system. If you are having trouble with a plugin though (where your tag is coming from), you should probably ask the author of that plugin for help. Oxide's permissions system doesn't have any chat tags.

    If you have any suggestions for simplifying the permissions, feel free to let us know. We feel the commands work quite well though and prevent a lot of issues we've faced in the past with users corrupting their permissions files from manual editing.

    Thank you, well I'll look some more that is another idea for me to comb.
    Is there a way to shut down Oxide? Or will a server shutdown kill the process?

    An update, found it!
    It was ironically a plugin that had a Wulf as listed as the 'by'. LOL!

    So I did more searches with NP++ and just saw it in the 1-Godmode.json
    line 8 "PrefixEnabled": false, was true
    line 9 "PrefixFormat": "[Admin Tester]"

    oxidereload
    and it fixed it.

    Oxide is a mod, so shutting your server down would shut it down.

    So i cant use any of my plugins, i set myself as owner through the ownerid command , and i still cant create kits, set up gather rates, or anything. i also cant find a users.cfg in my config folder, there is nothing in it,.

    The users.cfg file is only created if you successfully add and save using the commands shown in the first post, or if you manually create it. If you aren't showing as admin in Rust, then you haven't successfully completed the steps.

    Most plugins use Oxide's permissions, not Rust's owner/moderator system, so you may need to be granted permissions to use them.

    I am in the group owner and i have all of the correct permsisions, kits does not use permissions, it even says it in the description, what do you mean add and save?
    [DOUBLEPOST=1464199975][/DOUBLEPOST]I used the ownerid command in Rusty and it says that i am owner. But its as if it isnt saving tothe users.cfg

    Did you use "server.writecfg" as shown in the first post to save the users? There are no groups in Rust, that's only when using Oxide's permissions.

    Yes i used server.writecfg it wasnt saving for some reason, so i turned my server off for 15 minutes, tried again, and then restarted, and now im recongized as owner

    can someone please help me i just started my rust server once again on my own pc running from a batch file i have everything set up right ownerid and all is set and saved into the cfg file but once i go in game to try a command it's giving me you are missing the necessary permission to do that and nothing works not sure what to do or how to fix this would appreciate some help thanks ...

    What is the exact message you are getting and what command are you trying? Most plugins use Oxide's permissions, not "owner" and such.

    the exact message i get when i'm in game trying to use a command is "you are missing the necessary permission to do that" and i'm auth 2 when i made myself owner and moderator

    What plugin are you using for item giving? Where did you use the command? Where did you see the permission message?
