Understanding the Oxide permissions

    This is not really my area of expertise, but If I read that correctly you mean format it JSON and basically convert it to the correct file type? Sorry to be a bother. Just need a little direction here

    We have a migration from the old .json format, but it overwrites anything that already exists. An oxide.users.json for example would be converted to oxide.users.data if it's in the right format.

    grant group mvp helicontrol.destination

    Group 'mvp' already has permission 'helicontrol.destination'

    show group vip
    Group 'vip' users: No users currently in group
    Group 'vip' permissions: No permissions currently granted
    Parent group 'vip2' permissions:
    Group 'mvp' users: No users currently in group
    Group 'mvp' permissions:
    Parent group 'mod' permissions:
    Parent group 'admin' permissions:
    helicontrol.*


    Why cant i assign group mvp to have helicontrol.destination if its all the other groups below dont have the permission?

    If it says it already has the permission, then it already has it. There may be a bug with the command listing.

    I had ranks or parents setup incorrectly. could you explain what parenting does? or how i should define which group inherits lower groups permissions?
    for example; MVP group has all of VIP's permissions as well as its own higher permissions.

    Parenting is inheriting. You can have any group setup to inherit permissions from another.

    so if group parent A B , then group A inherits B?
