can someone please update this plugin since update before last its been lagging us out every time we do sil it times us out and have to re log into the server

 

This issue has been proven to be an issue with the Unity Engine (What Rust uses to run the game) on certain servers with special DDOS protection.

The problem only occurs when you type http:// in chat on 1 of these DDOS protected servers.
It is not just 1 server provider, it is many. Not all have the issue.

just post your link as /sil oxidemod.org/data/resource_icons/0/992.jpg and you won't get kicked
Always leave out the http://

 

i tried that today without the http and stuff still getting kicked its only started doing it last 2 weeks

 

Based on my testing and the fact it still works on some servers I would be asking your server provider for assistance.
The plugin is NOT the cause of the unresponsive and being kicked

We ended up going back to a fresh vanilla server to test for where the issue resides.
I also tested the chat command on many other random servers both vanilla and modded where I got kicked from about 80% of the 30 I tested.

Backup your server
remove everything including Oxide.
Try the same command to prove it is NOT a plugin issue.

You could instead ask your server provider to give you a vanilla server for a few days to test this theory.
You will find the vanilla server with NO plugins and NO Oxide will do exactly the same thing when typing the same command in chat.

This will prove the plugin is NOT the cause.
[DOUBLEPOST=1440813257][/DOUBLEPOST]A way to know the issue exists after typing the command in chat is to see if you can do a new chat of anything. If the chat doesn't respond you know you will be kicked for unresponsive eventually. This just saves waiting.

 

My server has DDOS protection and this works for me, but not for anyone else on my server. Doesnt bother me though, just lets me control what the other admins are putting on signs haha. Thanks for the tip

Just curious is your IP whitelisted from the DDOS protection? That would make sense.

 

try giving yourself permission with oxide.grant user yournamehere sil_url and see if that works

Not that I've set personally but it would make sense if that was the case

 

This plugin works fine for me still, however the "active uploads" doesn't work. I have it set to the default 3 and players can upload as many as they want still.

 

Just a note here, a week back I had a lot of issues with sv_requestfile time warnings popping in RCON. I did a small mod that goes through all existing signs on the server and deletes any that is over 300k and lowered the limit to 300k in sign artist and those warnings are pretty much gone and the server is a lot less laggy. I think the default 2 meg limit is over the top. Just thought I'd share........ I could publish the script to scrap big signs if anyone needs it.

Permissions:

• sil_url -- To use /sil <URL>
• sil_owner -- To ignore owner check
  
• sil_cd -- To ignore cooldown check

What exactly do you do??? the only cool files i got to manage to upload to my self is the ones i found on here. like Page number 2... page 8 and so on... well actually not number 2... cuz it was oxidemod and it said error 404, 402 invalid .... but i managed to upload into the HUGE sign picture for a test Run even yours Wulf when the Server owner (sorry forgot ur name) made ur URL as PNG file. and others who said they crash out of the server after posting it. ok i will keep this short. even thru it's kinda or actually to late. but yes. example: ghetto sign - Google-Suche how do i make this what i just randomly got from google.com to make it PNG? then after i download or what not.. to a folder how do i then Copy as URL ? if you can answer this. thank you very much!

For timewarning imageupdate and those i didnt find no solution but most of the people with same problem pointed on signartist. I wiped my server, re-added all plugins except from signartist. Never had that huge lags or errors again. Maybe signartist have updated since then, i'm not using it atm.

 

I made a small plugin to delete the image data for all signs that were over 300k and set the limit in sign artist to 300k as well. I still get the warning a couple times a day, but its much much less of a problem.

My assumption is that this was always a problem, but FP added the time warnings exposing the issue. Sending several 2 megs images in a server cycle is of course a bad idea...
