@Steenamaroo I have a situation I'm hoping there is a way to solve easily to give me some creative abilities with the NPCs.
Currently, we can have several kits for a monument which is awesome. I sometimes have 4-5 different kits per monument so it allows me to vary the NPCs players encounter and it feels real. The problem is I can't give each NPC, based on kit, a name. They're all called the same thing which doesn't 'feel' right.
Is there a way you can add the ability to give each NPC a name, based on the kit they use?Last edited by a moderator: May 23, 2018 -
quick question....anyone know how to change the settings for NPCs near the road? I dont know which "monument" it is to tweak. thanks

If I use the same random number that I use for kit selection to pick the name, then they would always match...
Kit 1 always equals jim, Kit 2 always = bob, etc, if the two array lengths are the same.
Sound like a plan? -
there is a file that is referenced at the bottom of this link : RUST Scientist Command and Variables but it doesnt actually say where or what the file is

Someone asked for an optional cooldown, coming out of peacekeeper, so they don't instantly cease aggro when you holster your weapon.
I'll do these two things for the next update.
I've recently increased the long range for Scientists, too (it was stuck at upper 55), and fixed the issue where they stand-still on spawn. -
Bots are still doing the "running up to me before shooting" thing, they still dont return fire from long distance (as they used to)

So im getting bots spawning on top of the satellite dish and on top of dome. Is there any way I can make them spawn 0n the ground only or more so on the ground. Its making the bots unable to be killed at least at satellite. At dome people can just stand on the platform and kill them without ever getting hit. Thank you.

Right now there's no proper way around that, but you could turn off the Dome/Satellite profiles and create custom versions instead.
If you set the spawn point just off center (on the ground) and keep the spawn radius reasonable small, you can then be sure they'll spawn on the ground.
With the roam range and something reasonable, say 30-40, they still should cover the area without any obvious offset. -
I got the issues with 1.6.1 with them running right up to you with AK47s, so reverted again to 1.5.8

I don't think there should be any behavioural difference between those versions.

Well, I am having a different thing happening, Since the game update I am having some (Murderer) bots "hunt me down" when close to their area and will shoot you, But sometimes they will rush up to you and then start firing while (seemingly) hitting you with the gun ? , all are equipped with AK's so no difference in kits except colour,
I have seen no roadside trashpile Scientists since game update ? correction now seen 3 !
Just wondering if placing bots in new areas that are supposed to be "safe" zones will stuff anything up ?
