How do the wipes work for my server?

So I am trying to figure out the whole wipe thing and here are some of my questions

Will Rust automatically wipe my server at a certain date, if so what is that date?
Do I need to schedule my own wipe?
What is the longest duration you can have without a wipe?

Rust automatically wipes on the first Thursday of the month as it is force. You don't need to schedule your own wipes, but if you wanted a weekly wipes you can either change the seed in your startup script and/or delete the .sav file to the corresponding map each week (I usually delete them all after the forced wipe, so it doesn't become a mess). The longest duration you can have without is usually 4 weeks but there are some odd months where this will be 5 weeks.

 

Ok so if I decided I wanted to have my server wipe on the first thursday of the month I don't need to schedule it, just inform my players?

 

Yeah, it just happens automatically. Also some timezones the wipe is on the Friday but it still follows the rule of first Thursday.
