Build command material arguments?

So, thus far, I can use /build cube # air to remove stuff, or /build cube 5 to spawn cobblestone blocks, but whenever I try to input "wood", "wood block", "stone" "stone block", etc etc none of those seem to do anything accept produce an instant Build Complete message. So what are the proper 'material' arguments for the build command. Does anyone know?

/build cube 1 8 make wood .1=cube size 8=wood 0=invisible block what its good when remove base.so different kind cubes go 1-9
