1. Hello I'm new here, i recently posted on Face Punch about the same problem concerning the Stack Over Flow error, yet we are having trouble applying the fix you mentioned, we were wondering if you could provide detailed instructions on how to apply your fix just so we know we are doing it correctly and not missing a step. Neither of us have experience in Visual Studio, and the server owner tried the stability (fixserver.stability = false) but that appears to not have worked, He also tried downloading the server files through SteamCMD but that doesn't seem to work for some reason. Any help would be very much appreciated because i'd really like to get back to my mega build of Valhalla :)
     
  2. I am sure that; most of the admin does not aware about the problem. they dont understand why their server crashed. this is really important problem because only solution is wipe the server

    it's happen to me 4 times

    There is no solution even make the server.stability false

    it's about the item number in your server which cause huge save file

    If your save file reaches 4mb or more (at the same time ram usage reach 2gb or more) and that time; you will start to face problems with day/night cycle - then you will restart the server for solve the problem but that is the wrong idea!!

    IF you restart, it will never work again.

    Before restart, you should check your logs for error and try to find huge complex which cause this error and remove that house before save and restart but probably you will not able to find any error :)

    This is biggest rust bug (ie. half open doors and dissapeared chat messages not important near this bug)

    As I know that; a lot of bug fixed for new update but stack over flow error not fixed yet!

    Ps: small map and/or make the server.stability false does not solution. It will just cause another problems i.e. easy raid and boring game

    until fix this problem, there is no way to keep resume playing bc server gonna be crash in couple of days anyway

  3. The server is no longer accessible because of the Over Flow Stack error, the only way it can be accessed is if we wipe the server which really only a last resort solution, plus it is already on the smallest map.
    What i need is more detailed instructions suitable for Newmans on how exactly to edit the command line in Visual Studio, how to down load the server files specifically the needed .exe and in way that's easy to understand. You said there is no solution but Die Wilde Betty seems to have one that may work. I hoping they might be able to help out a little more. Thanks anyway.
     
  4. You need Visual Studio installed, or someone who has it...open the Visual Studio command prompt (a normal system one won't work) and run:

    editbin.exe /stack:8388608 RustDedicated.exe
    you first need to navigate to the folder where the RustDedicated.exe is in (cd "path") or give the full path to the exe. This one increases to 8MB you can also try higher values...ex. 16777216 (16 * 1024 * 1024) for 16MB until the server starts...or you'll let upload someone a patched one;), but i recommend to patch by your own, in case of an update you wont rely on somebody to do it for you;)

    No, it hasn't been fixed yet.
