Not just server, it will constantly be sending out the new image to all nearby players for each frame of the gif so this will also increase network traffic for both players and the server.

To implement gif files you'd basically keep updating the sign and keep sending the next frame, which is why I said there isn't an optimized way to do it. Ideally signs would support gifs and handle the frames on the client but that is something out of our control.

PNG don't works on your new version, we can't reduce size under 0,5 (don't works) you should put maxsize in KB because lot of sil images can be heavy for slow connections clients. --EDIT--

Any chance we could get a permission or config option to disable file URLs (file://)? Seems like a potential security risk, and I'd like to disable it.

I would love to know the sign res for each sign in the game, because almost every image I use looks 8 bit small or large.
