hi everyone ;
My server features:
-300 mb up anmd down speed
- 120 gb 15 K rpm SAS
-6CPUs X 2.00 GHz 15M Cache
-6144 MB DDR3 RAM
i deleted all files and built my server from the begining and i see 1-5 fps.
I suspicious from new update becasue previous version of rust dedicated server fps was 50-60 fps.
[DOUBLEPOST=1425758047,1425740094][/DOUBLEPOST]up ?

Just you start with a fresh world?
-
-
you surely say SAS
- When you start the server, its consumption is correct? (RAM usage, CPU etc...)
- Did you try without oxide ?
- The size of your worldmap is superior to 6000? -
-i will check it out in later because 30 players playing right now.
-nope i will try too
-its size 5000. previous one was 4000.
btw, i have problem with playrusthq i search everywhere and couldnt find anything.
i hit refresh map on playrusthq and it says it will take 2 minutes but already took more than 30 minutes :S
http://www.playrusthq.com/server/12586
it still keeps refreshing -
So I just came to this page through googling "Rust dedicated server fps", just to see if anyone else had come across my issue and found a fix as I have.
For some reason, the rust experimental dedicated server (current build is dev 67), if I turn off affinity of all cores(giving it just ONE), my fps shoots from anywhere from 90(I put oxide on it and now it likes 120fps) all the way up to 190 fps,(128 maxed before oxide, if I did this, and with fps limit on.).
Just try it and see! I can't say that this will be a good long-term fix for those if any who have fps issues, because my server is emptylol; but on a 6k map, I think it runs amazingly off just one core. If people ever start joining, that is the only way I can do a real benchmark on single core mode FPS usage/stability.
Cheers! -
My Server is also Laggy when it reaches ~35 Players and i have no clue why, maybe someone else can help me
Im Hosting a 4.5k sized map on a
Intel® Xeon® E5-2660V3 @ 2.6ghz
24 GB DDR$ Eco Ram
1 GBit/s Network Connection
CPU never goes over 40% and Ram is always at ~
20% Load
I already tried the CPU affinity thing but its not working for me :/ -
Hmm with those specs, strannnge; what OS are you running?
When this lag is taking place, does the server fps drop to ridiculously low frames?
Have you tried setting CPU priority as well as affinity? - "High" is how I start mine every time.
Have you tried tweaking the server tickrate? -(default is 10 lol), I use 30.
If the frames are still high, have you tried tweaking the fps.limit from it's default 128 to something say, 250?Last edited by a moderator: Jul 7, 2015 -
The Server is sitting at ~5fps with 35 Players Connected
I tried both affinity and priority
I changed tickrate right now to 30 and it doesnt affect fps
And i already changed fps.limit from 128 to 300 and it doesnt affect performance over ~35 players -
You wouldn't happen to be running your OS through a VMware, would you? I don't know so I will just tell you anyways; So I've asked game-servers why they do not support windows 2012 R2 x64, and they sent an email back explaining to me that it was no where near optimized for a virtual environment while pushing such resources as a dedicated gaming server; something about high-level communication that microsoft just...never included. I confirmed this myself by installing 2012 on my local VM server and doing a little poking around. GS would still allow you to install it, yet it would have a "(Not recommended)" part next to the install name.
I use Server '08, and it runs amazingly!
A lot of online help is called a "shot in the dark", the only thing I hate about being an IT, is the process of elimination. You can't know the exact problem and solution unless you've tried every angel twice; lol.
*EDIT* I also did a little poking around in your profile, and laughed a little bit about your post stating that "My Server has 49 Plugins and i made a restarter for it so it restarts every 6 hours automaticly, and it helps alot with performance.";
I'm sorry, 49?????! I'm starting to think the plugins are your issue; conflict much??? That is 49 things that have to update and do calculations on every frame of the game's render, then multiply that to every client....on an experimental build of a beta game.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still thinking it might be an issue with the OS and VMware if that is the case, but 49 seems a little TOO overkill for a non-remotely-optimized game, let alone the server.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 9, 2015 -
im hosting on the Root-Server XL: https://www.netcup.de/vserver/#features
When i disable all the plugins it makes no difference to server fps i already tried that :S -
I don't read German anymore, lol. It has been at least 10 years since I practiced it.
I see that it says "virtuelle Server / Root Server", which I see virtual server, so, that would be a thing to inquire to the company about.
I would email the support people and ask if the server 2012 has been optimized under virtual environments, properly. (if it IS a VM server.)
If it hasn't been optimized, I would recommend you (if possible) back your whole server up; and format over to '08 if it is available to you.
For the debunking of 08, it wasn't even for this game; I was trying to host a Space Engineers Dedicated server, and it would NEVER go above
12 Updates-Per-Second. Once I changed over, BOOM, 60 constantly. -
they only offer 2012 and 2012 r2
-
installed windows server 2008 and performance is still bad

idk what to do :X how can you guys keep your server running without lag @ 40+ players?Last edited by a moderator: Jul 18, 2015 -
It's Rust man. It never used to do this until 1-2 patches ago.

OP: I have the same issue on a new server. There's spikes where it will drop to 0 fps and then sit at 35+. This is on a clean 2012 R2 install with a E3-1245V2 and 32 GB ram with 1 GB up/down. It's just the game.

with fresh map?

that never happens for me on a fresh map, on fresh map fps is always ~150
