Alphawar do you have any idea why it is reverting my file back to default after saving and reloading?
Thanks. -
As someone setting up his server for the first time and this being the first plugin installing on the server, the instructions are not very beginner friendly.
For the note: "The standard groups are automatically set up."
I'm not quite sure how I'm suppose to tell what the "standard group names" are. In example: They could vary from the Admin group being named "Admin" or "Administrator".
First step: "Create a group in the config as shown in the preset groups", the only thing that the download comes with is a "BetterChat.cs". If I'm correct, I should be looking for a .cfg file. If it automatically generates a .cfg file somewhere, I would not know where to look for that, as said before, I'm new to making a server on Rust. So I would need to know the folder it usually generates in.
So could anyone help me with this stuff? Do I even need to edit any .cfg to even add groups or can I manage groups from the console? -
oxide.grant group player color_player
admin group
oxide.grant group admin color_owner
vip group
oxide.grant group vip color_vip
moderator group
oxide.grant group moderator color_mod
etc etc -
So if I was wanting to add a group, I'd enter "oxide.group add Owner"? Then how would I set that group as a admin group or add people to it?Last edited by a moderator: Dec 9, 2015 -

unload make changes reload file it should work

post here the commands you use to unload and reload the file
-
So I've changed the colours in the "BetterChat.json" for the different groups.
I press save in the control panel.
I now go in to the console and type "oxide.reload BetterChat"
Check the "BetterChat.json" in the control panel to find the file has now gone back to just before I edited it.

Follow these steps download the config via an FTP program to your desktop edit the file with notepad++ with rustadmin or rusty with whatever program you use type unload BetterChat upload the edited config using the FTP then type reload BetterChat if this does not work do it again but the last part do oxide. reload BetterChat save the config you just edited and download the one from your ftp to check if it worked
