Oxide files rarely change, the main thing that does is the patched DLL. There are scripts out there that can do it for you, but I don't recommend it.

  3. Please help Wulf on my server the auto turret is not shooting any one is this a rust problem or oxide? And is it happening with other people? Thanks!

Oxide doesn't control that, plugins and Rust do. I'd check for any plugins that modify it, otherwise it'd most likely be Rust.

  5. Then yeah it must be Rust because I dont have any plugins that modify it. Thanks tho

  6. Hello.
Im a little upset cuz everytime a Oxide Update comes, all the Plugins in my Server stop working, till i do the update.
    Is this normal....
    ?

  7. Hey Wulf, I was wondering if you could post a mini-guide on updating the server after a patch that forces a wipe.

Last week, I tried to update my server files and while everything seemed OK, the server wouldn't boot. I had to delete everything and re-install the server for it to work again.

Yesterday a patch came out, so normally the client and server have different builds. What is the correct process of updating? Server files --> Oxide --> Plugins?

Or do we have to start with a fresh install every time?

    Thank you in advance.

  8. Start steamcmd
    login anonymous
    force_install_dir "your rust dir"
    app_update 258550 validate +quit

    Reinstall oxide
If its a update that removes all homes etc etc then some files in the data folder will also need deleted

Updating is the same as installing, just install Oxide after any updates.

  10. Let me ask one question: Do I need to get a windows 2012 server build OS or will it run on other operating systems too?
We thought about to get a root server.

It should work on any modern OS.

  12. The script for running the sever didn't work properly, but id did find one that worked;

    c:
    cd c:\server\steamapps\common\rust_dedicated
    :loop
    rustdedicated.exe -batchmode +server.hostname "Lambda.net RUST {EXPEREMENTAL}" -load +server.port 2815 +server.seed 23987642938746
    +server.identity "infused" +server.maxplayers 4 +rcon.port 5678 +rcon.password "passwd" -autoupdate
    goto loop

Note: The directory may need to be chanced, this is the script that I use to run my server.

The default one that comes with Oxide works fine (I use it daily), and the one in the first post should work fine as well. What was the issue you are having exactly?

  14. The window would appear for a split second, then disappear.

Sounds like there was an error in your script, or your OS isn't capable of running .exe without the extension being given. What OS are you on? Anything pre-Vista would likely not work without specifying the .exe like what you are using now has.

  16. I'm using Windows 10

It shouldn't be an issue then. If you'd like to test, you can open a Command Prompt by holding Shift while in the server's folder, then right-clicking and selecting 'Open command window here'. After that, you can run the .bat script from the first post or the one Oxide provides (_start-example.bat), and it will show you the actual error instead of just closing it instantly.

  18. Awesome! It works now! Thank you for the help, Wulf!

  19. So I don't know if this has been asked, and I am not sure, I should probably post this somewhere else, but it's late and i wanted to post something. So, apologies in advance. Here is my issue, I am running a Rust server on a dedicated box. I installed Oxide into the Server folder, the oxide unzipped file did not have a plugins folder in it. The compiler did not run. I went ahead and started adding plugins in the default plugins folder. Well, my server does not start up now. I have removed everything that I changed, start from scratch again. My server does not start up now, giving me an error saying, "Startup Error: 5." Not sure what to do at this point, server was fine until I added Oxide and the plugins. I did not edit anything else.
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
