1. Would it be possible to host a Rust server from a 512 MB Raspberry PI?

With the server files out for Legacy Rust could the Raspberry pi 512 MB handle it?? I have no idea how much RAM a rust server uses.

I did some small research and didn't really find anything about Rustberry pi.

  2. Not enough RAM

  3. Ahh sucks :/, what's the required amount of RAM for a Legacy server??

  4. minimum would be 2GO, but as you need windows to run it, you need minimum 3-4GO
(Rust uses between 1GO and 3GO of ram (max i had was 3GO))

  5. Thanks Reneb! Although I'm Still looking for something to do with my Raspberry PI...

  6. Im using a Raspberry Pi for a XBMC server connected to my NAS, works well.

  7. Hey guys! I currently have an raspberry pi 3 which i cant find an use of.
    Specs:
    SoC: Broadcom BCM2837
    CPU: 4× ARM Cortex-A53, 1.2GHz
    GPU: Broadcom VideoCore IV
    RAM: 1GB LPDDR2 (900 MHz)
    Networking: 10/100 Ethernet, 2.4GHz 802.11n wireless
Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.1 Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy
    Storage: microSD
    GPIO: 40-pin header, populated
Ports: HDMI, 3.5mm analogue audio-video jack, 4× USB 2.0, Ethernet, Camera Serial Interface (CSI), Display Serial Interface (DSI)
(TBH, i really don't know what it mostly says but i just copy and pasted it, also i am sure it is the same as mine)

And in case i can create a rust legacy server, can someone tell me if i can install plugins on it? Etc. I am kind of a newbie too :/. If there is a person here that tried to create a rust legacy server before with a raspberry pi, can you please tell me the needs incase if it possible?

I just need the details, thats all.

    Anyways,
    Thank you for your time!

There are no ARM builds of Rust, so no. Also, 1GB of memory is generally too small for most servers.

  9. Alright thank you so much! ^_^ Do you know any use i can have for this thing?

  10. - Home Entertainment System with a LAN NAS for every TV
    - Intranet sql database
    - intranet http page
    - external backup space (with NAS or ext HDD)

  11. Not sure what games you play, but a fair bit of them have Rasberry PI builds/servers clients.

    Rust doesn't. ;)

  13. For example minecraft haves I think some builds for it not sure, I know I seen some vid where they show how to configure it ;) Anyway If you will use PI as a multimedia server, use Open ELEC :)

  14. Yep you said that.

Yup, it's under the Rust Discussion area.

  16. I was wondering if it's possible to run JUST Oxide + plugins on a Raspberry Pi 3.

I have a dedicated server that's being hosted elsewhere and I just want to have Oxide and RCON running always so that I can just keep logs of whatever goes on while I am sleeping. The problem is that my desktop computer runs pretty warm. Even with the windows open, fan on and nothing actually on the pc, it tends to heat up my room quickly, plus, the noise is bothersome while trying to sleep.

So I was hoping to just have a raspberry pi run oxide, rusty and the plugins all the time so that I can turn off my desktop, go to bed and wake up and read the logs to see if anything happened overnight.

    Is this possible?

  17. Oxide needs to be installed on the server.

  18. Right. Which it is installed and all of my plugins are fully functional. I use Rusty and the RCON feed to monitor what's happening in-game when I am not actually playing the game. So I would just like to have it running 24/7, but I don't want my main desktop to run 24/7. Is it possible to run Rusty on the Raspberry Pi?

Merged the thread with some existing discussion on it. It's not really possible without an ARM build of any of it most likely.

  20. I'm still not sure about what you're trying to do.
If all you need is the stuff you see in RCON, those are created as files and you can just grab them via FTP whenever you want to.
