Hello,
The issue is still here for me, I've downloaded the latest oxide multiple times and replaced the files multiple times too. I've also updated the server and validated it to be sure, but the error persist.
Is there something I can give you to help understand the problem ? -

Again, this is caused by mixing Rust versions, which happens when either not fully updating the Rust server before installing an newer Oxide build that contains patched Rust DLLs meant only for the version it was patched for, else updating the Rust server and using an older Oxide build that contains patched Rust DLLs meant only for the version it was patched for.
So, if you are using a host that provides the install method, you'd need to verify with them that they are using an updated link and that it is downloading it properly (they should verify the hash against what our builds on GitHub.com have). If you are downloading manually, delete all existing copies of Oxide-Rust.zip Oxide.Rust.zip you may have downloaded and then download again from a fresh browser instance (or private) from the provided links here are on our site or at OxideMod/Oxide.Rust. Also make sure that you are using the "validate" option when updating the Rust version; and when installing Oxide, make sure to overwrite ALL files when prompted. -
Unfortunately I have updated my server like usual, and the issue persist.
- It's a dedicated server (a dedicated Windows machine in my house)
- I use .bat files for updating and lauching the server, with good/verified commands (at least which worked until today)
- I update and validate the server, then download the latest Oxide zip file, extract it and overwrite every file
- It worked with each new game version until now
So if it's not on your side, then it's from the steam servers not providing the good files, but I'm surprised that there are not many other issues reported. I can't think of being the only one steam is messing with...
I've restarted the machine, did another update/validate with steamcmd, re-downloaded the oxide zip file, extracted the files and overwrtitten them another time, but still no luck.
I hope another rust and/or oxide update will come out soon, I can't see anything but that to help me get out of the issue. :/
EDIT : OK, I've located the issue. The shortchut I used to update the server was wrong, it was updating another "instance" of the game (another RUST server). What a dumb I am...
My apologies for having you waste your time, and thank you for your patience.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 30, 2018 -

This is still an issue. I've read this entire thread in search of a solution. I know what the problem is but either 1. Steamcmd isn't downloading Rust correctly or 2. This websites"Download" page for Rust isn't updated correctly. Can I get some help please?

Currently, self hosting. I just tried to just update rust with the SteamCMD and I still get the error. That's without installing oxide afterwards now. So Vanilla isn't even working...??

I'm pretty quick at understanding. Could you just explain what I need to do? I am currently creating an entire new server from scratch just to test.
EDIT: Works perfectly, I'm going to try to install Oxide into this test server.
EDIT 2: Installed Oxide, worked perfect. Took the oxide from my main server and replaced it with the fresh install on this test server and it worked perfect? My only conclusion is that the SteamCMD was NOT correctly downloading Rust.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 1, 2018
