1. Hello, I have a server through Survival/Servers and I am wondering how to install Oxide...Yes I am new to modding and yes I have looked through the forums and could not find specific info on installing. After downloading Oxide what exactly needs to be done? Thanks in advance, Steve

Download the zip > extract > upload if you have FTP, otherwise install via their control panel if they offer it.

  3. Wulf this is what it says on their end "Oxide:
Oxide is a Rust modding API built for the non-legacy branch of Rust. An abundance of plugins are available for this mod and must be uploaded via FTP and installed by the customer to work." Since I am a noob to modding how do I upload it?

If your host offers FTP (you'd need to check with them), you'd need to get an FTP client and use the credentials they provide. There are plenty of FTP tutorials found around the net depending on which FTP client you pick to use.

  5. Jesus this is complicated...on my control panel on their website it has this info "
    FTP Details
    IP: x.x.x.x
    Port: 21
    User: xxxxxx

Does this mean they have FTP?

Yes, but you may not want to post that publicly. ;) I edited out the information, but you may want to look into changing it now.

  7. So there is a Mod dropdown within the control panel and I selected Oxide and I'm now updating and restarting the server to see what happens

Make sure your server is shutdown before installing it, otherwise it may not install properly.

  9. Well the server took several mins longer to restart so I am presumming it did something...lol How do I know if Oxide is installed and working? Oh and that info is PW protected but thank you I did not even think about it when I posted it :)

You can check in-game using the /version chat command, or RCON using the oxide.verison console command.

Also, you posted the password. ;)

  11. Crap...should I re-do it with the server stopped? Or try it first and see?

You can test to see, their installer may automatically shut it down first.

  13. Do I need to download a plugin to check it?

  14. Wulf

    No, they are core commands.

  15. Is there a list of the core commands somewhere ?

    It's a list of the commands. ;)

  19. Ok I read your info on installing plugins...I am NOT hosting locally so how exactly do I install/upload a plugin....I'm really not retarded just new to modding :)
[DOUBLEPOST=1465160237][/DOUBLEPOST]So why don't you guys develope a MOD Manager to just drag and drop plugins into?

Us developing a mod manager would not be of use for your hosting, as your hosting has a control panel. They can offer a mod manager if they'd like to manage what plugins you can use, otherwise you can use FTP for full control of what plugins you'd like to use.
