Solved GameConfig: Could not resolve host / timed out

In my case, I was without DNS ...
I added Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

 

same here, 2 days get this error and my server has many lags "GameConfig: Failed to connect to api.facepunch.com port 80: Timed out" any fix?

Getting that 503 message now, I guess I'll wait and see if it goes away on its own as well!

do you have spawnconfig plugin in your server? Yes?
than there is your problem before the update the spawnrate was 3.0-5.0 for chest barrels etc now you need to put it on MAX 1.2 or your server will overload whit barrels and chests and how can you see the loot on your map just get the RustIO map in there and logyourself in as admin on the website and you will see that even the website dose not like the loot tabble ^^ laggy..

Some hour's ago it was all fine..

 

I am so glad I finally looked here! I was rewriting batch files when the error popped up!
Phew wasn't what I changed. Thanks for everyone posting that you had the same 503 service unavailable message.

 

my console every 10 seconds gives this message:

"GameConfig: Failed to connect to api.facepunch.com port 80: Timed out"

Nobody will help you here since its on facepunch side, you have in teh error big clue "api.facepunch.com"..... Just wait few hrs it will fix, happens time to time, no fix on oxide or plugin side, just on facepunch....

Guys if youre owning a server and it says rust GameConfig: could not resolve host: api.facepunch.com it means you arent connected to the internet or your computer is in airplane mode

 

It's a Rust error with their site nothing to do with not being connected to the internet
