Solved Wrong Connection Protocol: Server update required

Getting this error when i, and other players join the server. Some can get in and others cant. Why is this happening? i just took the server offline to update to the latest steam version.

Kicking xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:xxxxx / steam id / - their protocol is 1358 not 1357

Hello, there was an update around 11 AM today. And nobody seems to be able to join.

Error log:

But when I uninstall oxide I can join the server. So I think the problem is oxide. Also the server can not find an update when I try to update.

The Client Rust version is newer than the Server Rust version ... that's why kicking/error: Server update required!

 

Rust just released a client patch with a new protocol which means servers will have to update. I would wait for the new Oxide patch as well though.

 

Same problem :
- Server without Oxide > no problem
- Same server with Oxide > problem asking for server update (it is already updated)

 

I have exactly the same problem over here...

I casually updated Rust and the server but when I install oxide and try to join the server it says: Wrong connection protocol: Server update required.

This only happens when I install oxide, i tried uninstalling oxide and i could join the server.

I don't have gameservers. I have DeinServerHost... So I guess the problem is global?

Oxide is just for plugins ... not for connecting people ... weird ... the versions (client/server) remains the same, after patching the oxide !

 

hmm, ok. So just waiting for oxide to update? hopefully the playerbase dosent die too much.

It overrides the Assembly-CSharp.dll which contains all the game stuff. Meaning if you install outdated Oxide on a server it will most likely downgrade it again.

 

I guess i could be wrong but the latest Oxide version is for (protocol 1357, build 817.79) which means you could update your server,but you would have to run it without Oxide until Oxide released a patch.
