That is a Rust error that means your server isn't running the protocol needed for your client to connect. Your server is most likely outdated, probably from using an old, incompatible Oxide build.

The only way you'd get the message is if your client is outdated, or the server is outdated where the protocol doesn't match. I'd recommend verifying that both are updated and that you can connect, then download the latest Oxide from the site with today's date.

  4. This is our first server we got yesterday, So we are still learning everything to do.

There isn't any other solution, either your client or server is outdated, or the build of Oxide you have is not compatible. Oxide builds 968 and up would be compatible and tested with today's updated. Rust's protocol has to match, there's nothing we change or can fix with that.

  6. So what exact steps would i take to update my server?

    1. Stop the server and run SteamCMD with the validate option.
    2. Start the server, connect to it to verify you can connect.
    3. If you can't connect, open Steam and validate your Rust client.
    4. Download the latest, compatible Oxide build from the Downloads page.
    5. Extract Oxide-Rust.zip to your server's root and overwrite existing files.
    6. Start the server, and try connecting again.

I don't know their control panel, so I can't really give the exact steps. If they provide a means of updating the server via the control panel, that's what you'd use instead of running SteamCMD manually.
