1. Rent the server where?

  2. well people will say there shit, but I host a New Zealand server with Vilayer, Haven't had problems and its been half a year now.
The major complaint that I hear is that there service sucks, But here is my experience.

I rent a 50 slot NZ rust server, I pay $20 NZD ($10 Euro), I have had a few issues, when related to updates they where solved between 20 minutes and 1 hour. When the hosts node was dossed was down for 2 1/2 days, They had happily given me a credit for a month due to the issues and loss in players. I only have had up to 14 players on at one time (rust servers are in low demand in NZ due to good AUS servers) and even with many mods players have not had or complained about bad connection, even when connecting from places such as Germany.

Would I recommend them, yes, But I would highly recommend that you check out all the server hosts that host in your area and find one that matches your budget and you feel has a good review, I studied for 1 week before picking.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Vilayer is fine for more experienced admin/owners, but if your a beginner and need support you might get a tad frustrated. Fragnet was fine and are good at quickly getting on support tickets and resolving issues. Currently I admin a couple of servers on Gameservers and if you have decent knowledge of the rust file system and where things belong it's a snap to admin with filezilla and notepad++. Either way if using a VM server from a gaming host expect lag spikes and occasional other issues since Rust is generally the lowest priced hosted game with most providers and as such gets lower priority in the VM ($10-$20 USD a month doesn't buy much memory, disk space, bandwidth, DDOS protection etc.). In other words "Cheap ain't good, and good ain't cheap"
Either way it's best to learn the command line and edit files as they are supposed to be done in console to avoid fat fingering the server into WTF mode.

  4. i brought a 6 mouth dedi box pm me on skype joshhopey or steam xRascal could sort something out ! for cheap shame to see the dedi box not getting used

  5. If you're buying a root server, make sure the server has atleast 8GB of RAM and a single core performance of 3.3GHz or better.
Rust only really utilizes a single core.

  6. my dedi is on window 2012
