Solved Using a lot of CPU

Discussion in 'Rust Discussion' started by Reynostrum, Jun 10, 2016.

  1. After this update, my server is using a lot of CPU with +75 users.
CPU reach 80/100% when there is more than 75 users. This start happening since this update. I tested without plugins. Same.

  2. fps.limit?

  3. And tickrate ?

  4. Yep. I did that. It's ok now.

  5. i am cpu 30% fps low

  6. So what did you do ? :)

  7. I did limit the tickrate and the server fps. CPU usage is 30/40% and the server it's fine.

  8. Perfect !! Remember that the default tickrate is 30 (min 15) and default FPS is 256

  9. The default tickrate is 10.

  10. What would happend if I set tickrate 5 and fps limit 15/20?

    I am tickrate 10 and fps 30.

  11. Your players would experience lag and rubberbanding.

  12. I was server.fps -1, so the server was using a lot of CPU and it was rubberbanding a lot, everytime. Now I have server.fps 30 and something I feel rubberbanding, but it's very rare. So, I don't understand why is rubberbanding. Upstream it's ok, ram and cpu too. I have no idea.

  13. same problem, cpu usage 50-60% and 20-30 fps every 1-2 hrs for 5-15 min

  14. At a fresh download, the default tickrate is 30 ...
If it set to 10 it's because you doesn't install your server yourself, (no dedicated box) ^^
You can read this steam link : Rust Dedicated Server - Valve Developer Community

Did you set your FPS and tickrate more lower ?
What sorts of server have you ?

  15. 256 limit. Sort? What is it? Modded oxide server on windows, x3

  16. I wanted say dedicated box or provider of gameserver ?

  17. The valve dev community link is outdated in pretty much every regard, it isn't a viable source and hasn't been for at least a year.
I'm running a local server and I just set it up again to check - both for vanilla and Oxide - the default is still 10.

  18. So excuse me ^^, in fact (for me) I never modify my tickrate, and it was setting up to 30 since the beginning

EDIT : MB, if i remove my argument +server.tickrate 30 the default tickrate is 10 !

  19. Obviously if you modify the tickrate it isn't the default tickrate.

  20. Just said what i could read on Steam, i just edited my "start.bat" with +server.tickrate 30 cause i had read it...

I was probably naive to think that Steam know their product.

"Developers are often right but not always" noticeably still a little more than me.

    I just tried !
