Trouble interacting on and connecting to server

Hello, so I've made my own server and have it running perfectly fine for the majority of the time. But, here recently I've started getting a whole lot of problems and I don't know where they're coming from..

#1.
My brother and I were playing on my server gathering materials and starting to build our own separate bases. After collecting for some time the server lags, like we cannot open doors, open chests, or anything that you 'interact' with. We could run around, hit trees (without getting wood) and that was about it. Soon after we got kicked for Flood Protection. This has happened about 3 times today alone. Any fix?

#2. After we got kicked for Flood Protection I decided to restart the server in hopes it'd help. But, when my brother tried to connect and was stuck at "Receiving Data" then after about 5 minutes he disconnects and waits a second while I get this:

After the console prints that we were able to connect again... Any solutions?

I've managed to reduce it quite a bit, I believe. But, how do I fix it?
