1. So... I'm fairly new to Rust server management, but I've worked with game servers in the past. I'm working with a friend, a content creator, to create a server for his community. I need a little bit of help, as I'm new to Rust servers.

Firstly, I'm not sure what specs to look for in a server. We're expecting:
Most if not all 100 slots full
    C4 only available through crafting
    DDoS protection
    5,000 map size
Lightly modded, probably only teleportation, admin essential stuff, sign art, etc
Restarts are going to be every 24 hours

I did some looking around to find a starting point. The host I found claims that 5Gb RAM should be sufficient, but I'm not convinced. They said they'd be able to increase that number if we're capping, but nothing too crazy.

If anyone could give me some estimates as far as what kind of server specs we'll need, I'd really appreciate it. Price isn't really an issue, I just need some justification for it.

  2. 100 plus players will need at least 8GB RAM from my experience

  3. Atleast 8GB, Maybe 16GB if you're looking at possibly upping the max slots later on or change the map to a bigger size.
An I7 CPU (Over 3.4GHz) would be better than a server grade CPU as Rust would not use all the cores, Also its cheaper!
if you go for a Server Grade CPU, Go for less cores (Min 2 Cores) but more GHz
