Solved Some serious CPU problems

  1. Hello everyone!

So, like the title says, We've been handling with serious CPU problems and we are out of ideas what to do.
We have a dedicated server with 6 core @2,6GHz and 10GB RAM assigned to this rust server. That should be more than enough to run a server with few players, some plugins and map sized to 3000. But the problem is that the CPU usage is always at 300%, and it will go to 600% if we take limits off, and it causes the server fps to be unstable and jump between 5 and 262.

We have installed the server by following this tutorial: Setting up a Rust server with Linux and LGSM | Oxide (We are running it on Linux 4.2 Ubuntu 15.10 64bit if I'm not terribly wrong)
We are quite sure the problems are caused by original rust, because we have tried re-installing oxide and running without plugins. The server isn't giving any errors nor crashing, it keeps running with low unstable server fps, and amount of the players isn't affecting to it.

If anyone have any sort of ideas what might be causing this weird problem, please let us know.

  2. i have the exact same problem but i am using TCAdmin on Debian 8.3
If i give it all cores (40) it will choke out the whole box.

does anyone know how to fix this problem?

  3. A VPS is not recommended for Rust.

At the OP: This is weird, because Unity mostly only uses a single core, so it's unlikely for Rust to use more than ~150%.

  4. im not using a VPS
    Im running
    2 x Intel Xeon E5-2670 v2 @ 2.50GHz
    40 Cores
    256GB ram

  5. Try to run the rust server on a windows server 2008/2012 64 bit.
The linux version is not optimized.
And 6 core @2,6GHz and 10GB RAM sounds like vps
