1. Hi all,

Anyone here using a dedicated server from OVH and had success with their ddos protection?

I have one but still being ddosed.
Im not using their firewall but want to set it up correctly.

I have 5 IPs with them but no idea how I set it up "perfect".

Anyone have any experience with this and willing to help?

At least what Ports I should allow.. Only using Rust server with Rust.io and rustservers.io

  2. You need to enable their "GAME" firewall, which is essentially just a specialized UDP firewall. Then punch a hole for 28015 (or whatever you've set your rust port to)

I've used OVH in the past, including when a lot of community servers were DDoS'd last year, I got an email from OVH stating I was under attack and they were scrubbing my traffic. My server was fine during the attack.

  3. Yeah I do have the game firewall running but still.. the ddos takes my server down most of the time.. We get 5-6 attacks a day.
I get the mail that an attack was noticed and server is put in mitigation.. sometimes it works during the attack but mostly it doenst.

Weird thing tho is that the admins of the server can normally still log on, just no one else.. Any idea why that might be the case?

  4. Turn it on permanent mitigation, put all your server ports on the game firewall for the "rust" protocol.

  5. hmm good idea. might try that!

  6. You must software firewall. OVH Game can be down easily. Message me if you want help. I can test :)

  7. Thanks for replying in a 8 month old topic.

Installing a software firewall is in no way gonna help you with DDoS attacks. It will only help against possible hacking attempts.
