Rust server specs for 100 players?

Hello,

I have a server with the givens specs :

CPU: i3-2100 3.1Ghz
RAM: 8GB DualChannel 1333Mhz
HDD: WD Blue 500GB 7200rmp 16MB SATA3
I-net connection: 1gbps

How would this server perform with a 100player rust server ? If anyone has experience with a similar server some information/advice would be much appreciated

maybe it will be ok with vanilla

 

Thinking about a modded server with around 25 plugins

 

Or as a second spec i could go:

CPU: i5-6600k 4.2Ghz OC
RAM: 16GB DualChannel 2133Mhz
HDD: 250GB Samsung EVO 850 SATA3 SSD
I-net connection: 1gbps

Would this be enough for a stable server ?

 

yep 4.2 be enough

Thanks for the info skippy, one more question, should i go ubuntu or windows server ?
Is there any noticable difference or any reason to choose one over the other ?

 

ubuntu or debian is better if you know how to use linux

Thats right for the most of all servers but not for rust. Rust using .net and mono. Mono under linux is good but windows is better
