1. I'm looking to start a small rust oxide server with about ~20 slots max and a few plugins. However, I am looking for the cheapest possible plan for it. I've seen the OVH VPS SSD 1 and the specs look alright, apart from the RAM. Would 2GB be enough with weekly wipes and a very small (2000?) map? I will be running debian and I have experience in Linux.

  2. Lol this is a virtual server with not dedicated CPU cores (shared). Special for web projects

  3. probably wont work, a rust server ram with about 50 ppl that actively build goes up pretty fast, wont help when you have a couple of plugins installed. if i were you, If you really want to host a rust server, start one off from a hosting website. get players and after that save up for a dedicated server.
If you dont gain players and just give up. its a bit waste of money. if you buy a dedicated server instantly.
This is what i did and worked out.

  4. I probably won't even get 15 players to begin with. I will also have restarts ever ~6 hours to free up RAM. Are you sure I couldn't manage with a tiny map?

  5. U probably can but u need more RAM, shared cpu isn't really that bad considering u going to host a very small server.
I think to start with u should atleast get 6-8GB RAM preferable running linux cause that will run much less RAM then Windows based server which results having more available RAM for the rust server. And always go for a SSD powered VPS cause with a normal drive the performance will be much less with a normal Harddrive. And i know a site where u can rent used dedicated servers for very cheap. Available in most countries but hosted in Germany. Hetzner Online GmbH - Robot The company is Hetzner which is a good host with good support.

  6. I will probably go for the OVH one then as it has higher specs and is cheaper.

  7. £10/month is a lot to me. I don't want a big server, I just want something with a few people on and to be able to host events with my friends.

  8. it's more hassle than it's actually worth in all fairness if you want to run a stable rust server then get a dedicated server or go with a shared platform
