1. I know there are a few threads on the topic already but none really solve my issue. I'm hosting a modded server that wipes every 14 days. I've setup the server up through TCAdmin to update rust every week but oxide and livemap need to be manually updated which I usually do when i get up in the morning.

    My issues are:

    1) After rust update the server goes to vanilla (oxide not updated) with a new map. I then can't restore the old map, none of the backup files (in the backup folder) go back before the update. My solution to this (unless there's a better one) is to setup an automatic FTP transfer BEFORE the update that can then be used to restore the server after the update. My question is, will that work and if so what files do I need to transfer to restore everything (map, bases and xp etc)?

    2) Is there any way to automatically update oxide through TCAdmin? I'm not always be available on a Friday morning to update oxide and this annoys players on my server. I know this is probably a question for the server hosting company but I thought there might be people out there who already have this sorted.

Generally with the forced wipes, you can't really restore your old map as the protocol is different.

To automatically update, you'd need to have the host provide a script on TCAdmin that handles checking and downloading the latest Oxide snapshot. Keep in mind that doing this may result in your server being not working, as the latest Oxide build is not instantly compatible with each Rust update.

  3. Thanks for the quick response! Was the latest update a forced wipe? And where can we find out which updates will be a forced wipe?

  4. First Thursday of every month is a forced wipe

  5. has there been any changes in this? i run a private server and the users want to have it back to before the latest wipe.
