1. Ok, so before tomorrow's update comes along, I want to get my head around the backup process.

Can you correct me if I'm wrong ?

Step 1. Issue save command on server
    Step 2. Turn server off
Step 3. Make a copy of my plugins directory from the oxide folder?
Step 4. Make a copy of the cfg file in oxide folder?
Step 5. Make a copy of the procedural map folder that sits in my Save directory
Step 6. Make a copy of database files called storage.db and userpersitance.db
Step 7. Perform the server update
Step 8. reinstall oxide (gameservers uninstalls oxide when you update the rust server).
Step 9. Replace all the files that I made a copy of?
    Step 10. Start server

Is this right ? or am I backing up too many files ? or the wrong ones ?

  2. You don't need to make a backup of any files unless you want to restore players bases

  3. Sorry fella, my bad. Yes, I will want to restore the map (or rather avoid it being wiped). Of course on 7th July, there will be a wipe anyway, but I want to retain the world for another week. I've only ever ran vanilla before.

The only way to restore a map after a wipe is to manually copy/paste all buildings using a plugin such as Copy/Paste.

  5. Tommorrows update will not force wipe, so I think you dont need to back it up, just wait for server update to come up, then restart your server, let it run, check in console with command version if you have the lates Rust build/protocol, then write in console command oxide.version to check if your oxide is disable, then turn off your server, instal lates oxide and run it, then just check that oxide is runnin again by command oxide.version

    console = RCON :)

  6. Thanks Wulf - When devs force a wipe, I won't be wanting to bring buildings back.

I'm with Gameservers, so what I have been doing is keeping an eye out for the new update being available, closing down, running the update in the cpanel, then restarting.

Brko, you say " just wait for server update to come up, then restart your server," - is this because restarting the server will automatically take on the update that is ready ? I thought I had to shut down, click update, then restart the server.

The update button in gameservers says "Updates server to latest version and disables Oxide. (Last Updated 2016-06-23 14:04:30)"

This time, I will not click on that, I will just wait for the (Last Updated) to change and then simply restart the server.

If this works, then I've been an eeeediot for a long time :)

Thanks guys, Ill let you know how I get on.

I'm now off to find a "get your server populate" plugin ;)

  7. Ah sorry, forgot that some server providers have something else, on my server provider I just need to restart server to get the last RUST update when its ready, of course you need to do like you described :) sorry for confusing you ;)

  8. The thing about gameservers when you stop the server and run the rust update server will auto restart and you don't know it has so when you try to install oxide it can cause an error so make sure you click the stop again after rust has updated before installing oxide. And when he full wipe comes there will be some files from your data folder you will need to delete

  9. SO copying the save files of the map and such will not restore after a forced wipe??
[DOUBLEPOST=1491528007][/DOUBLEPOST]I am a bit twisted that I wiped today and the forced wipe is now delayed..... argh....

  10. Actually I think it would be nice if someone created a lod for this where ALL entities were restored after a wipe.... :)

  11. SaveMyMap for Rust | Oxide
is technically able to restore any "older" save into any "newer" map.

  12. i use this plugin but load new map i use 4000.3000.152 and load 4000.3000.153 how can get my old map back??
