I can build my base for hours setting up traps, defence towers, rooms dedicated to fighting etc.
Everything just so i can defend my base in different kind of ways during raids...
But then in the end just to be raided while offline, and i bet this has happen to some of you guys.
So my idea for a plugin which i really want and i will probly set up my own server if this plugin gets developed.
Some kind of plugin that will force people to raid when the players are online.
Option 1:
As with some plugins you can use "/sethome" you could also use something like "/setclanbase" or something,
then it checks if anyone in your clan/group is online anyone can raid you. But if all the clan members go offline all the foundations and bulding parts connected to the foundation you did "/setclanbase" on wont be able to take damage.
Option 2:
Pretty much the same as "option 1" but instead it goes for the Tool Cupboards.
When everyone authorized to that tool cupboard is offline the building wont take damage.
Cooldown.
Ofcourse the plugin should have a cooldown, for example when the last player of the clan loggout, the building will still be able to take damage for 10-30min.
(to prevent people abusing it by logging off during raids to instantly stop the raid, or maybe even place doors/walls and trap the raiders).
Vulnerable.
Also that the Plugin could tell for how long a clan/player has been offline. So if the clan/player has been offline for 2-3 days the building will be vulnerable again.
(to prevent the map beeing filled with unbreakable bases).
I know some people think that offline raiding is part of the game, especially for "Lone Wolfes"
and i totally agree. But me and my clan is starting to get abit annoyed to always be raided offline as none wants to battle us =(
So this would appeal to servers with alot of clans etc.
Things i think the admin(s) should be able to change:
- Cooldown time.
- Amount of "/setclanbase" for example if you can only have 1 "unraidable base" while offline.
- If the base should be invurnable or just reduced damaged and also the reduced damaged percent.
- When the building should be able to take damage again after the clan/player has been offline for to long.
so what do you think? anyone wants to try to make this? or anyone know someone i should contact?
also what do you guys think? what could be added/removed?

I have already done this in an (unreleased) mod like this called Diplomacy. It integrates EntityOwner and Clans to achieve a similar effect. I could modify it a little to achieve more like what you intend, but it would not be quite as elaborate. I'm not sure about tracking player activity, but I will look into it.

The main idea is to make the turret more powerful after the turret authorized users go offline.
Players often complain about offline raiding, this might be a possible solution.
I already posted this in the TurretConfig, just thought I would put it out as a general Plugin request.
A suggestion to either add to the TurretConfig plugin or port to a new plugin.
Maybe as follows when all users authorized on turret go offline:
(X is variable for each choice in Config)
- Timer starts and waits for X seconds before activating Offline Raiding Defense. (Default 120)
- Turret is X times stronger with option for invincible once activated (Default Multiple of 2)
- Turret has X more bullets with option for unlimited once activated (Default Multiple of 4)
- If an turret authorized user joins Turret is back to normal
This would enable players to work towards a base that is harder to raid offline rather than just automatic from the beginning after a wipe.
This idea would make it so you don't just get free extra protection, you still have to work for it by making turrets and adding bullets. -
The only thing is with Brengun's plugin it still allows for offline raiding but bases will be made harder to raid which is a plus since offline raiding still should be a part of Rust.
Please consider this request because this server is imo a really well done server with a good community and a dedicated owner.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 17, 2015 -
What's to stop a player from making a storage base which is protected by several turrets that were placed by a alt account? Anytime he needs to access it he can simply use his alt, essentially giving him offline protection 100% of the time?
That's the issue with all these offline raiding ideas... there's always a way to exploit them. -

The only feasible option is not to prevent offline raiding but to make it more expensive. There will always be edge-cases where players will take advantage of such a system. However, that can be a calculated risk. So, instead of canceling out damage completely, we can simply reduce it by a configurable percentage. That percentage can vary depending on the cooldown time.
For example:
Player logged out for 1 hour - 80% damage reduction
Player logged out for 12 hours - 50% damage reduction
Player logged out for 24 hours - 25% damage reduction
Player logged out for 48 hours - 0% damage reduction
Now the only obstacle is explaining to people why they are doing less damage to certain buildings and not others. The same logic could be applied to turrets.Last edited: Nov 9, 2015 -
I love the idea of a sliding scale for longer offline.
We could also add that scale in reverse to the online time. The longer online in the last 24-48 hours, the better offline defense.
make all percentages variable in the config so Admins can determine what they want.
There will always be ways of people getting around things, I am sure they will find a way around this as well.
It is the human mind to always find a better way to do things. LOL
That would at least help this scenario causing an issue.
Eg.
Player logged in for 8+hours - 80% damage reduction, 80% increased Turet, 80% more bullets
Player logged in for 6-8 hours - 60% damage reduction, 60% increased Turet, 60% more bullets
Player logged in for 4-6 hours - 40% damage reduction, 40% increased Turet, 40% more bullets
Player logged in for 2-4 hours - 20% damage reduction, 20% increased Turet, 20% more bullets
Player logged in for 1 hours - 10% damage reduction, 10% increased Turet, 10% more bullets
Player logged in for 1/2 hours - 5% damage reduction, 5% increased Turet, 5% more bullets
Then you could apply a sliding offline scale depending on what you have achieved.
Eg.
This might apply for a player who had 8+ hours in total in the last day or 2
Player logged out for 1 hour - 80% damage reduction
Player logged out for 12 hours - 50% damage reduction
Player logged out for 24 hours - 25% damage reduction
Player logged out for 48 hours - 0% damage reduction
Where this would be applied to a player that only logged 4 hours in the same period
Player logged out for 1 hour - 40% damage reduction
Player logged out for 12 hours - 20% damage reduction
Player logged out for 24 hours - 10% damage reduction
Player logged out for 48 hours - 0% damage reduction
You could use this plugin below to determine REAL play time versus AFK time if you wanted to stop people just camping in a server.
Although people camping in your server adds numbers so not a bad thing for a server owner wanting numbers.

Those are both great ideas but they outside the scope of this mod. Sounds like good material for a new mod, like AutoLocker or BaseProtector or something.
