Solved No monthly Rust update today

Facepunch decided not to update today because of balancing issues.... can we still wipe our servers today? Or is this patch going to require a map wipe?

The update tomorrow requires a map and blueprints wipe. If you wipe one of those today manually it will be wiped again tomorrow when the patch hits.

Ok thanks. It's pretty ridiculous that they had 5 weeks and apparently just noticed this issue today.

 

Dude seriously, you obviously don't pay enough attention. I have a rust bot on my discord that posts when a new tweak etc has been added. They have been slaving the entire month to have this ready for today/tomorrow. Personally i would rather have a stable release of the new update and not a bugged or unbalanced one, especially wipe day.

Now i would also invite you to take a look at the rust roadmap, and realise that this update wasn't even supposed to happen as soon but hey the guys at facepunch pulled a fast one on us to release it early.

I would be thanking the guys working on rust, not bashing them on here.

 

This is the reason I hate this forum. I ask a simple question and get responses such as yours. I do read the updates and I am not "bashing" Facepunch. If the fix is only going to take one day it could of been done earlier simple as that.

 

need i say anymore this was a direct bash.. whatever way you try to sugar coat it.

 

@v1ruspr0ne Everyone has a right to their own opinion and you're right in some capacity, they do work hard but at the same time, these last-minute decisions hurt the server owner as much as it hurts their reputation.

Sure it's happened before and it'll happen again, but that still doesn't mean people won't have strong opinions about their decision making.

 

Nah they shouldnt push it so hard and just extend it to next month, They are killing my server as im working all day tomorrow and take thursdays off to wipe my server. Facepunch lets us know 3 minutes before supposed wipe that it isnt gonna happen and instead of making it a week or a month later they do it tomorrow.

We dont need that patch right away, it can wait. Thats what facepunch forgets.
And arent staging servers for all testing? Dont come 3 minutes before supposed wipe telling it wont go trough. They could have knew way earlier.

 

I always think maybe they called Facepunch cus they don't care what their customers want, so you buy the game and later it's like "haha, facepunch! you got facepunched!" xD

 

I wasted an entire fucking day waiting for the god damn wipe. Even loaded my new map to set up all the spawn points and what not.

 

Yep, I'm sure most of us did. The people working on the game are all 9-5 salaried I'm sure. I don't care where you work, but deadlines are deadlines, and for a 5 week go-live deadline to extend a single day... it makes no sense. And at the very least it could have been communicated earlier

 

It is worth noting that there are probably going to be some minor map changes that may make the map you've generated on the old version not the same as the new one, unless of course you setup the map on staging branch.

 

For the record, they can really do the fuck they want as long as the game is still playable. I don't like it as much as you do but bugging about it is not going to change it. Devs really don't give a fuck and are not running a professional business but rather a small company with people not being harrassed when something is not going to catch the deadline. Devs are working throughout the world on this game.

Communication - or the lack thereof - is a bitch at Facepunch but they are not obliged to help you in any way. But there are more things to think about as well. For example: if Oxide development stops, we are all screwed and there's nothing you can do. People will harrass Wulf and pick the "i've bought Rust and all my players did"-card but it's gonna do shit.

 

We all know all of this. Essentially we are just doing everything we can about it - making a noise, hoping others will make a noise, and eventually the company notices that the people paying them are making noises... and start worrying it will interfere with the flow of money...

 

As a server owner its an annoyance they could do without,but in the grand scale of things its not the end of the world.
