Solved Linux builds for Rust?

Discussion in 'Rust Discussion' started by Gliktch, Dec 22, 2015.

  1. G'day guys,

Just wondering if there's any anticipated timeline for this, or particular factors which may make it difficult or otherwise not planned?

I see there are linux-native versions for many other gameservers, and I'd rather not have to deal with Wine and all of its quirks if possible.

    Kind regards,
    - Gliktch :)

Rust doesn't provide a server still that I am aware of, so Oxide can't provide builds for it.

They may have recently added it, but I'm not sure if it works or not. The Linux branch was empty up until recently. Either way, we'd need to make a Linux build for it.

  4. No worries, well hopefully it won't provide too many complications :) Looking forward to testing!

  5. You have a server Rust running on Linux ?

  6. Yes, native Linux x64 (not Wine), but it can't load Oxide as there's no Linux build yet.

  7. I have to linux 64 does not start. What is your distribution?
    [DOUBLEPOST=1451152366][/DOUBLEPOST]I debian 8.
Maybe there is something special when you start?

  8. I'm running on Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, XFCE 64-bit edition. I didn't change any configuration or game parameters, simply ran SteamCMD, let it do all its own updating, logged in as anonymous, set the force_install_dir parameter, ran app_update 258550, and then launched the server itself by right-clicking in its folder, choosing Open Terminal Here, and running the executable.

I've since deleted it since space is at a premium on this SSD, and I couldn't get it to run Oxide yet (I have no interest in running a vanilla server, certainly not from my own computer) - but as soon as there's a compatible Oxide release, I'll be testing it ASAP :)

Did you actually try connecting to the server though? Pretty sure that's the issue with most Unity x64 servers.

Also, there are Oxide builds in our Snapshots repo, just not tested.

  10. Are there any requirements for running the server on linux?
    I have a mistake:

Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates
a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
    used by your application.
