Solved High ping for me on my server

Hi folks. Interesting one . Im getting ping shoot up to 12k on my rust server. But only me , and only on my desktop , not my laptop. Ping is fine on other servers on both machines. But my server is unplayable on my desktop.

What makes it more interesting is my FTP is timing out constantly when I try to access it through client and browser. But only on the desktop.

I've sent Gameservers a ticket just to tick a box from their end but otherwise im stumped. My ping can be 7 then scoot up to 6k or double that . Ive tried with firewall off , same result. Ive considered it being plug ins but the ftp is making it difficult to delete them. Seems a shame though seen as it works fine for every other player and me also on my lappy.

ok uninstalled all plug ins and still logged up to 2k ping when i logged in . I have no idea whats causing this

 

right i dont know what ive done but changing my server password fixed it. I'd never of thought of it untill I showed a friend into my FTP. oh well . There ya go folks. something new every day.

 

Sounds like you may have been getting ddosed

 

Well I've had Gameservers relocate my server to a new box in Holland now. No more issues. Might stick away from oxide for the time being. I'm enjoying the stability and don't wanna risk messing things again.

 

It may not of been. I just know my issues started when I started using it. That's all I'm saying.

If oxide was Te problem. The whole server would have been effected. Not just one PC

I'm starting to feel more and more someone was trying to denial attack you ..

 

Like I said Im merely posting my experience. I could literally toggle a plug in on and off and the player could log on then couldn't when it was turned off again. You gotta admit that something unusual was afoot there. Too many things didn't make sense and then when I worked out the two of us who got continued high ping were both on plus net.. And only happened between 5 and 11 each day.. . But only my server and no one else was effected. I didn't know what else to do other than threaten gameservers to stop paying unless they fixed it. So they took a chance, migrated from London to Amsterdam and the problem was gone.
