1. Hello all, new here. I was able prior Rust patch to run Oxide 2 and several plugins. Now that the patch was done, I have had time to FTP to my server and try to update the plugins accordingly. It seems as if Oxide will no longer update or isn't working correctly. I verified it's not working by deleting all plugins and only installing a couple newest updated ones- for instance "God" mode for Admins.

Any thoughts as to how I can have Oxide start taking these plugins and recognizing them/making them work? I appreciate your time and help. Thank you!

    Check your logs for errors.

  3. Wulf:

Please direct me where I need to go to do so. I will post them here as you instruct.

    Thank you.
[DOUBLEPOST=1425192110][/DOUBLEPOST]If you are talking about /oxide/logs, there is none for this date 3-1-15.

    Check your Rust logs then.

  5. I re-installed Oxide 2 and it seems to have fixed the problem after a server reboot. Thanks Wulf for your help!

    That works. :)

  7. Hate to bump an old(er) thread but I'm having an issue, and I'm running on the same. Gameservers + Oxide 2
Since the Rust update yesterday, I am receiving these messages on my logs and I wan't before:
(After the update I reinstalled the plugins)

    [3/6/2015 9:40:17 PM] Unsupported encoding: 'utf8'
    [3/6/2015 9:42:53 PM] Shakin389 has left (Kicked: Steam: k_EAuthSessionResponseAuthTicketCanceled)
    [3/6/2015 9:44:17 PM] Reporting Performance Data system/server

Each one of the three, were copied and pasted from different sections of the log.
The only problems I have noticed in the server is the walls are very weak.
For instance my stone walls are 500/500 strength and my heavy iron walls are 1000/1000 strength.
I'm new to the game but isn't that extremely low??

These are the mods I am currently running:

  8. None of the log lines you posted are errors, also none of the plugins would cause your walls to be weak..

  9. Shakin:

I run a gameservers.com server as well and get the same RCon messages as you listed. The wall strength is newly redone as of this patch and your numbers are accurate. They redid the way the wall structures are and durability numbers. That's all I know so far. The Rust Dev Blog has more information.

  10. Thanks for the info. Like I said, I'm new to the game and a new server admin, so I wasn't sure and thought I'd ask.
I like Gameservers but it seems like I have to stop and restart about 5 times, just to get new plugins to unpack all of the .json and data files. For instance, I uploaded the Gather rate and god mode plugins last night. I had to stop and restart the server 3 to 4 times before the .json and data files for the plugins appeared on the server. Is that normal?

No, most likely there was something wrong with your server, either it not shutting down properly or Oxide not actually being installed.

  12. ok thank you. Great job you all do here and its much appreciated.

  13. Gameservers.com stated in a support ticket to me that with this latest release, when you restart your server via control panel it could take up to 5-10 minutes to fully come back online. I thought mine had crashed, so I sent a support ticket in. In the time it took me to do that- the server came back online. Just a heads up on restarts

  14. I've just been restarting, because I didn't know the plugins could be loaded and reloaded with Oxide. Thought you had to restart the server to get the new effects to take place. I picked that up from running my minecraft server to much :p Oh well. Now that I've found the oxide.load and oxide.reload commands, I'm good and no more restarting. :)

The commands aren't needed, as plugins are loaded/reloaded/unloaded automatically when changes are detected. The only time the commands are needed is when an error happens or if you want to manually unload the plugin without moving it out of the plugins folder.

  16. Shakin:

Just a heads up, you can have your server reboot using the Gameservers.com config area. I have mine set to auto reboot every day at 4am to refresh memory and plugins automatically ;)

  17. My problem has been the .json files, don't appear on my FTP server, until I physically restart the server or run the oxide.reload command.
Without doing either one of those, the .json files simply don't appear, so I can't edit them to put in my custom settings.
[DOUBLEPOST=1425863122][/DOUBLEPOST]yes, I noticed that. Thanks for the heads up.

  18. Hmmm... As Wulf stated they should almost appear instantly. Did you refresh the directory using your FTP client after you uploaded them to the plugins directory? You have to go to the config folder and sometimes refresh the directory and then they show. When you upload a plugin it takes effect immediately but sometimes you will have to refresh the config directory while in FTP to see the config file that has been made. I know I found this to be the case for me.

  19. Yeah, I tried refreshing. The .json files just won't show up on their own. I've had problems with the .json files unpacking (if that's what you call it) since I got the server. Then my 3rd day into it the server rental, Rust came out with a new update, which made things worse for me. lol I think I've got a handle on it now though, and can get them to show up by on command by running the oxide.reload. I won't say its oxide, as I think its a server issue.

The configs don't get unpacked, they get generated. Generally the only way they'd not be created, would be if the plugin wasn't loaded or if the plugin errored. This could be due to the filesystem watcher not working on your host perhaps, but I've not heard of that on hosts other than Multiplay.
