1. hello, my friend started a new modded server.
when i try to connect, and it gets to the loading part, receiving data,
it just kicks me out and puts me back to main menu.
then it says connection failed, timed out.
what can i do or what can my friend do to fix this?

    thank you!

Does your friend see any connection attempts in the server console/log? If not, then it sounds like the server is not publicly accessible, ie. the ports are not forwarded with your router.

  3. yes, a couple attempts by a couple of people he doesnt know. and even from me.
i can see his server on the servers list

But has anyone actually been able to connect to it?

  5. i dont think so, i think they have the same problem as i have

It sounds like it's an issue with the ports, else perhaps a firewall on the server machine. I'd suggest having your friend look into those.

  7. the ports are open from 28014 to 28017. the firewalls are disconnected on the game rust

UDP for the ports too? I don't know of any other causes other than software messing with it or port/router issues.

  9. yes, but hes looking in to it.

  10. I think your friend need to send his .bat file, to check his settings. Also try disabling any antivirus programs which can have firewalls.

  11. RustDedicated.exe -batchmode +server.hostname "RaidersIsland|5x|10xXP|TP|INSTA|KITS|DAYTIME|MAP|WIPED14-08|" +server.identity MyRustServer +server.maxplayers 100 +server.port 28015 +rcon.port 28016 +rcon.password (not showing) +server.worldsize 4000 +server.seed 1666666666 +server.saveinterval 300

  12. Are you able to join your own server? Because if you can't we can forget any port issue.
Check if you can update your server and oxide, could also cause a connection failing.

  13. updated both. and i can connect, so that is also not a issue

  14. Okay, turned off all firewalls on PC? and can you send a picture of your port forwarding?

  15. there are 2 people in the server now, and i cant connect
    [DOUBLEPOST=1471376092][/DOUBLEPOST]it says: disconnected: timed out

  16. Seems like a client problem then. Try to reinstall the game, it's not a large game so easy done.

  17. we found the problem. we were on the same internet. when i try to connect on his phones internet, i can connect.
    how can i change ip?

  18. What do you mean exactly? Because connectoin to his phones internet (WiFi), is probably the same as his internet you were on before.

If you were NOT connected to his local network, you have to use his external IP and he need so have his port forwarded.
If you were connected to his local network, you can just use his pc IP.

Why do you want to change your IP? Changing your own PC's IP won't help you joining the server.

  19. im now connected with his 3g internet on his Phone. he shares his Phone internet with my pc

  20. Okay, so you are gaming on his 3g internet? And you are not in the local network of the Server host pc? This means you can just use the routers IP address, and ports 20815, 20816 must be forwarded on his host pc's IP.
