I can't figure out why my server times out, and sometimes even wipes itself.
IS there a such thing as having too many entities?
I am running a 5000x server with 100 people on it, should this have any bearing on it?
Entity limits?

Hi FTM, how many entities do you have after 2 days of wipe? Normally with 100+ players the server will start giving troubles at around 180k or 200k entities.
-
At 105k entities, my server starts timing out, which took not even 24 hours.
-
Is your server dedicated? Or is it virtual? Thats not normal...

I mean, did you buy slots? Or do you have a computer for yourself?
-
If its from gameservers it will be slot bought.

I dont understand the entity thing ?,, my server host said to reduce entities !! But how can I do that, I have reduced amount of airdrops (crates dropped) reduced the amount of items in betterloot barrels and crates, reduced the amount of animals in radtown animals and it went from 80thou to 113thou ???
I have a 30 slot 6000 map with only 5 players (due to recent downtime caused by host/plugin issues) on a Multiplayer server , has'nt had a wipe since last main one
What are entities ? and how to reduce them ? never had this problem before, -
Type server.save in your Rcon and it will tell you how many entities you have, after you do that, post up here please on how many you have.

This is a copy from rust i/o console. and one I just copied from clanforge console
server.save
Saved 112,077 ents, serialization(0.01), write(0.03), disk(0.00) totalstall(0.06).Saving complete.
You do not say how big your server is in map size/slot(player) size, I have a 30 max player (double memory) 6000 map, I will be going for a smaller map on the next wipeAttached Files:

5000x server and gameservers is a bad mix I used to do 12x and after 2 days it would start lagging you need a better host. 5000x server on them will be no good. I just switched to fully dedicated and unlocked my fps and have 1100 XD
[DOUBLEPOST=1452163821][/DOUBLEPOST]I would try deinhost they are pretty good but ram 8gb it would force restart so idk its hard to tell without a budget but you really need a new host -
The entities problem its a Rust itself problem, not a hosting problem.
Of course move to a dedicated server its exactly what you need, not a virtual server. With a dedicated server at least you make sure you can use all the resources you want. Look for a server with at least 8 or 16 RAM, the processor doesn´t need to be really powerfull.
Then try to keep the entities count low. Install some plugins like TwigsDecay ot TwigsRemover and clean up the map everyday of raided bases.
The gather rate doesn´t affect that much to the entities number, the worst thing its the amount of players in the server. I used to run a 60x with 200 players all the time. Then I reduced the gather to x5 and still having the same issues. Lower the player cap to 100 or 120 its what really helps. -
What host are you currently using? and what's the costs? -
I´m currently using Vilayer 80€/month

No, I´m running 2 servers on it, only for Rust, I pay together with another 3 players, it makes it easier to pay.

GameServers are known for lagging..they host virtual machines with multiple gameboxes on it.
Its time to get a VDS or a dedicated machine if your serious about continuing hosting a server.
