Solved Disabling decay?

Discussion in 'Rust Discussion' started by Slime Slayer, Jul 24, 2015.

  1. I have been trying non stop for days, literally, to find a way to disable decay, I have searched everywhere and tried everything. Please, can I have some advice? Even if I cant disable it can I slow it down to start decaying after like a month? Thanks!

  3. I tried decay.scale 0 and it didn't work, i'll try the link. Thanks!
[DOUBLEPOST=1437696189][/DOUBLEPOST]Wait, does decay.scale 0 not apply to twigs? That would make sense. All I know is I enabled decay.scale 0 and it said scale set from 1 to 0. But I logged on and my twig walls and foundations were decaying, but I didn't check anything else.

I have a question about a specific server plugin I want to install. I wanted to remove or slow down decay down on my server and someone suggested a specific plugin called NoDecay. When I installed the plugin it was a .cs file, but last I checked I thought you had to use .lua files for plugins. Will .cs work too if I just drop it in the plugin folder and run the server? Thanks!

p.s I know your reading this Wulf and I am sorry for being such a pain. I'm just trying to get my server figured out T_T

    See http://oxidemod.org/threads/installing-plugins-on-your-experimental-server.6307/.

All plugins go in the same place. ;)

I'm not sure, I've not used them really. There is one for TwigsDecay, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for either.

  5. Use the NoDecay mod I made, it's really simple and it works great. You can increase/decrease/stop decay for all 5 tiers independently. By default there is zero decay on everything except twig which decays normally.

  6. Deicide666ra, I got your plugin, and it installed fine on the server but I haven't had a chance to test it. Do you need to do anything to enable the nodecay on all tiers but twigs, or is it automatic when you install it? Also does it just apply to structures or does it also apply to usable objects like furnaces, chests, loot crates, loot stashes, supply drops, dead corpses, etc? Thanks!

  7. No need to configure anything just put it in your plugins folder and you're done unless you want something different from the default config (twigs = normal, every other tier is 100% protected from decay).

For the moment the plugin only affects foundations and foundation steps. I could add other deployables... As far as I know, most of the things you listed do not currently decay, pretty sure corpses and supply drops are simply on a timer and all other things you listed do not decay/despawn AFAIK.

  8. So by only foundations do you mean that only foundations and steps don't decay, and walls, roofs, windows, bars, etc DO still decay, or anything that touches said foundations don't decay?

  9. Currently the decay system in Rust only affects foundations. The rest of the building parts do disappear eventually when the foundations holding them are destroyed by decay (it's a bit more complex than that, since some elements can be held by others.. For instance a corner foundation that decays usually won't take the two walls closing that corner since they are being held by pillars and a ceiling on top. I'm guessing this is tied to stability. Anyways, nothing other than foundations and foundation steps get decay damage as far as I know, except camp fires. Oh and the new compound walls, which I'll be adding to the mod later today, so update INC!
