As some of you may have seen on other sites from other games, etc.. I was thinking it'd be pretty dope if there was some sort of Developer Challenge for like Best Plugin of the Season or something. Possibly run a vote poll on the oxide home screen where server owners can vote.
Figured this may spice up the community more than it already is![]()

Maybe make a few diffrent categories like "Best GUI", "Easiest config", "Best Support"?
-
This looks like reverse psychology to trick developers into doing things for free they otherwise wouldn't. No thank you.

@Kappasaurus like lone said I can see where you would think this. I would say that only addons made by devolopers choice (not requests or paid for commissions) just to keep things fair. Kappa you know I love and have paid for a number of addons myself on the other website... maybe the other site can implament something like this then...

*when you geniunly want to bring some activity to a community and people turn it into things that it's not
-
No, I fully understand what you mean. Just if it's monthly, presumably, new plugins will be judged, which in turn, motivates developers to put in more effort.

Whats wrong with a bit of motivation to put more effort in? All it will do is make that developer more well known to sell their premium plugins..

Calytic Community Admin Community Mod
Since I've been tagged, here are my 2 cents..
Anything that improves developer engagement is a good thing. That being said..
Oxide's website is in the middle of a pretty big transition to a new site, so the curators of the community already have quite a bit on their plate just maintaining the current site while also transitioning to the new one. OP's idea seems like a great candidate to be added to the new website, and I can tell you with certainty that you will not be seeing any major additions to this website. In fact, we're seeing the opposite trend here, where features are being torn down and removed (i.e. Server Owner tags).
The _best_ ways to improve developer engagement for the long run are..
- More emphasis on donating to developers, including but not limited to annoying e-begging messages integrated into the site
- Better, accurate documentation
- Full tutorials on how to contribute, code plugins (with best practices) and how to code in general
