1. Oxide is installed properly and has made folders correctly after running server.

But now when I try to start the game (RoK) i only get a windowed box with a black screen.
The steam ingame tab comes up, and goes down like normal- but leaves "laggy" boxes behind.

Basically the screen turns black, and is stuck there- before getting to the menu.

    Help would be apprectiated! :)

Check your logs for errors. Oxide doesn't do anything to the client, but make sure you aren't trying to run Oxide on your client.

  3. Make sure you are running your server from a different folder than your client and if it continues then your machine must not be beefy enough to run a server locally and play the game.

On another note @Wulf check your email. I sent you blockstorm copies :D

  4. My computer can definitely handle the server locally, as I have hosted heavier games from my desktop before!

The problem is, when I extract Oxide to the RoK folder while outside of the steam subfolders- oxide won't make its folders after server run. Only when RoK is in the steam-common folders will it extract like it should.

btw- I have been running my current vanilla-server from the same folder as I launch the game from with no problems. In fact, that's the only way it will work!

It doesn't matter where Oxide is installed on your system, it just needs to go where your server is installed, overwriting the old.

  6. I solved it by extracting Oxide while in steam folder, copy/pasting it to another location, and replacing backup of original RoK files to go back into steam.
Now I can run the server with Oxide from another location, and run my client seperately.

The black screen was indeed not an issue, as I was stupid enough to try and run oxide from the client! Tired I guess ;)

    Thanks!

PS: For some reason it does actually matter that the RoK/Server folder is placed in Steam, on my computer. I have no idea why.
I have tried many times to do it another way, to no avail.

It's something with your setup or RoK configuration, as it's not normally an issue. If using Server.exe, it creates a configuration file with a hard-coded path, but that's not something Oxide controls or is even related to.

  8. This is definitely solved, I have oxide up and running with plugins!

Thanks you guys, you helped me narrow down my search for the error.

Forgot all about steamCMD, that helped too!

I had already run the server without oxide, and forgot to edit the path to ROE.exe in the ConsoleSettings.cfg :) Once I did that, it works ingame!

Thanks for your time, yet again!
