Solved All-in-one basics

Discussion in 'Plugin Requests' started by JustOlii, Jan 15, 2016.

  1. Before I start, this is more of an idea (I'm unsure if anyone's already done it) than a request; just because I think something like I am about to request would be good for something for people who are new to hosting a rust server.

Okay, so what I'm thinking of is a server essentials/basics types plugin, a plugin which comes loaded with what people consider to be server basics. Such as the gather plugin, quick smelt, helicopter editor, tele plugin & notifier etc... These are all plugins which I would consider to be "essentials" when installing the Oxide 2 mod framework to your server.

Does anyone think they would be able to merge all of these plugins into one plugin? I'd give it a go myself but I know nothing about the way they work.

Admin or moderator, please feel free to remove this thread if this is already a thing/not possible.

  2. This is of course possible but its propably better have different features to be spread to different plugins, so you are free to decide what you would like to use. There could maybe be made some kind of "Plugin Packs" where you download a pack of plugin from a category which work together fine. Or maybe just plugin categories. As far as I know wulf planned to bring them back soon. I like the idea to bring back the categories the most.

  3. As you said plugin categories would be great, and very helpful at that. But I was just thinking that something like an all in one plugin would help new server owners, or a script of some sort which can be installed into game panels - which server hosts provide - to fetch the "essential" plugins?

Its just an idea because I know when I first started installing plugins to my server, I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Maybe these plugin packs could come with pre-configured config files? But as I write this, I realize that installing essential plugins and writing config files could be part of a "Installing and Configuring your new server mods" tutorial, or something similar to that.

  4. I might even be making such tutorial. If not me - I am sure somebody else will.

  5. You go for it sir. Someone with a good knowledge should do it, and I certainly do not. :p
